Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego has opened its second representative office abroad in Frankfurt am Main. The office will promote BGK's activity on the German market, support Polish companies in foreign expansion, and deepen relations with other financial institutions present in Frankfurt, including German regional banks.
- Germany is our key economic partner - both for our bank and for the entire Polish economy. The volume of trade between our countries is growing and more and more Polish companies are opening branches in Germany. Many of them with significant support from Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. Thanks to our presence in Frankfurt, we will support Polish companies and partner cooperation between Poland and Germany even more professionally - said Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, president of the management board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
- Choosing Frankfurt was natural for us. Germany is one of our main trading partners and Polish companies are investing in Germany more and more boldly. Of course, one must also remember that Frankfurt has always been one of the main financial centers in Europe - emphasized Paweł Nierada, the first vice president of the management board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
One of the main goals of the BGK representative office in Frankfurt is to deepen cooperation with the German equivalent of BGK - the development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW): formulating common positions on the European forum, operational cooperation and exchange of interbank experiences. Due to the deeper cooperation with KfW, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego will also have the opportunity to build close relations with representatives of regional state development banks.
- Opening our representative office will allow close and effective cooperation with other Polish economic institutions present in Frankfurt - PKO BP Niederlassung Deutschland and the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency - added Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka.
The representative office in Frankfurt will be led by Krzysztof Kamola, a banker with many years of professional practice in Poland and abroad, including the German banking sector. Krzysztof Kamola has been working at BGK since 2004, previously for a dozen years he was a representative of the bank MHB Mitteleuropaeische Handelsbank AG Deutsch-Polnische Bank in Berlin, then Senior Manager at the head office of the Bank in Frankfurt.
Frankfurt am Main is the second city after Brussels in which Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego has opened its foreign representative office. In the second half of 2019, BGK plans to open offices in London and Washington. In the near future, the bank is also considering a permanent presence in New York and Singapore.
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego is a state development bank whose mission is to support the social and economic development of Poland and the public sector in the fulfilment of its tasks. BGK develops guarantee and sureties schemes which contribute to the promotion of entrepreneurship. One of the important tasks of BGK is also to support the activities of Polish companies abroad. BGK manages European programmes and distributes EU funds at the national and regional level. BGK is involved in programmes aiming at improvement of access to housing on the residential market.
